Behavioral Assessment Observations

The questionnaires are designed to help professionals identify areas that should be addressed in an evaluation as well as provide background information, characteristics observed across settings/situations, and areas of concern. The organizer is based on the criteria utilized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (used to identify disorders such as learning disabilities, attention disorders and emotional disorders) but compiles an organized tally of observations across multiple observers/situations to clearly identify areas of concern that need to be addressed in the individual's assessment. The questionnaire is organizational in nature, not diagnostic, and can enable private practitioners as well as Child Study Teams to effectively utilize behavioral observations to quickly identify areas of concern that need to be addressed in the evaluation as well as intervention planning.

The questionnaires are given to parents, teachers and the individual being assessed and the reported behaviors are tallied through the use of an answer key so that the observations are organized to clearly identify areas of concern that need to be addressed during the evaluation and the intervention planning. The process is supportive of differential diagnosis, which is a critical component of assessment so the needs of the individual being evaluated can be identified accurately so intervention can be initiated.
